Dutch entrepreneur Ben Pon, who chose this valley to produce wines that rival the world’s finest, founded Bernardus Winery in 1989. Rooted across Monterey County, California, our vineyards supply the handcrafted wines that have placed this estate among the region’s most recognized producers. When Ben Pon planted his first vines, there were no other wineries in this village; today the region counts more than twenty, and ours remains the one they point to first.
